How P5COM uses data-driven insights from The Selection Lab to optimize recruitment

Challenge

P5COM aimed to gain objective insights into the characteristics that distinguish their top-performing employees. The goal was to identify which personality traits and motivators predict success in their roles as consultants and management consultants. These insights would support more targeted recruitment and development of their employees.

Approach

Employees at P5COM were analyzed using an employee scan conducted by The Selection Lab, focusing on two roles: consultant and management consultant. Prior to the scan, all employees completed a personality test, which enabled the scan to provide insights into the competencies, motivators, and personality traits that set successful employees apart.

Results

The employee scan revealed that top-performing consultants scored higher in networking and teamwork but exhibited less adaptability. They were primarily driven by self-direction, valuing independence and the ability to set their own goals. For management consultants, self-confidence and accuracy emerged as distinctive traits, with their key motivators being performance and stimulation. Both groups shared a strong preference for a work environment centered on collaboration, trust, professional growth, and direct communication.

Conclusion

The employee scan from The Selection Lab provided P5COM with valuable insights into what makes a successful employee within their organization. Using this data, P5COM developed sharper job profiles that are now applied in recruiting and hiring future consultants. This has resulted in more focused recruitment efforts and a better match between employees and their roles. Additionally, the findings support the development of existing employees, strengthening P5COM’s team and fostering an organizational culture that aligns seamlessly with their ambitions.
